  • One Degree Beyond : A Reiki Journey into Energy Medicine by JaneAnne Narrin Paperback

One Degree Beyond : A Reiki Journey into Energy Medicine by JaneAnne Narrin Paperback

One Degree Beyond : A Reiki Journey into Energy Medicine: Your 21-Day Step-by-Step Guide to Relax, Open and Celebrate by JaneAnne Narrin

There is a an unfolding dynamic cosmology developing around the world. This emerging worldview blends some of the knowledge and discipline of modern science with ancient and time honored spiritual beliefs and practices. One Degree Beyond is an excellent example of how these two complementary areas of inquiry can bring humankind to a new and much needed understanding.

Make no mistake. Although it does put some of the more recent trends in scientific inquiry and research in perspective and does establish that the traditional view, which had science and religion at odds, is outmoded and unnecessary, this is not a book about new science. Rather it is an invitation to a personal exploration with global implications. One key to the development of a new consciousness is Reiki, an ancient approach to healing rediscovered and formalized by a Japanese doctor, Dr. Mikao Usui, during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The tradition established by Dr. Usui continues to this day and Reiki has grown in popularity.

The author of One Degree Beyond, Janeanne Narrin, is a trained Reiki Master of the Usui tradition with over ten years experience as a teacher and practitioner of this simple approach to the relief of pain and suffering. Narrin also has an extensive background in management consulting for large corporations and consequently has wide experience dealing with stress and anxiety in the corporate workplace. She is a an experienced and whole systems-inspired practitioner who presents Reiki, the ancient art of "hands-on" healing, in the wider framework of energy medicine, and proposes not only do we have bodies and minds, but we also partake in and embody the very energies that create the universe, moment by moment a new. One Degree Beyond elucidates the very practical relationship between Reiki and modern scientific thinking, and uses the tools of self inquiry to open new doors of perception.

In inviting readers to explore possibilities, or move beyond what is apparent, Narrin is encouraging us to attempt to focus our thoughts and actions in ways which honor both our personal potentials and our connection to all of the other elements and forces of Nature. Thus, One Degree Beyond is a primer for action. It is gentle and wise, does not proselytize, and one needn't be a Reiki practitioner to derive its benefits. It is full of helpful hints, upbeat suggestions, and engaging exercises to expedite a personal journey into health consciousness and heightened spiritual awareness.

3001: The Final Odyssey by Arthur C. Clarke - Hardcover USED

It began four million years ago when a gleaming black monolith cast its shadow on the stark African savanna *an inexplicable apparition that ignited the spark of human consciousness, transforming ape into man.

It continued at the dawn of the 21st century when an identical black monolith was excavated on the moon *propelling Dave Bowman and his deputy Frank Poole on a mission to Jupiter that ended in the mutiny of the supercomputer HAL.

Only Dave Bowman would survive to encounter a third, and far more massive monolith on Jupiter's moon Europa *and be forever transformed into the star child.

It is the world of 2001: A Space Odyssey. And now, the odyssey enters its perilous ultimate stage. In 3001, the human race, incredibly, has survived, yet lives in baffled fear of the trio of monoliths that dominate the solar system--until a ray of light beams forth from a totally unexpected source. The body of Frank Poole, believed dead for a thousand years, is recovered from the frozen reaches of the galaxy, restored to conscious life, and readied to resume the voyage that HAL abruptly terminated a thousand years back. He knows he cannot proceed until he reestablishes contact with Dave Bowman. But first he must fathom the terrifying truth of what Bowman *and HAL *have become inside the monolith.

In 3001: The Final Odyssey, Arthur C. Clarke brings the greatest and most successful science fiction series of all time to its magnificent, stunningly unforeseen conclusion. As we hurtle toward the new millennium in real time, Clarke brilliantly, daringly leaps one thousand years into the future to reveal a truth we are only now capable of comprehending. An epic masterpiece at once dazzlingly imaginative and grounded in scientific actuality, 3001 is a story that only Arthur C. Clarke could tell.

  • Seven Notebooks by Campbell McGrath - Hardcover FIRST EDITION

Seven Notebooks by Campbell McGrath - Hardcover FIRST EDITION

    An ant to the stars
or stars to the ant—which is
    more irrelevant?

    Weekend Jet Skiers—
    rude to call them idiots,
    yes, but facts are facts.

    Clamor of seabirds
as the sun falls—I look up
    and ten years have passed."
    —from "Dawn Notebook"

Such is the expansive terrain of Seven Notebooks: the world as it is seen, known, imagined, and dreamed; our lives as they are felt, thought, desired, and lived. Written in forms that range from haiku to prose, and in a voice that veers from incantatory to deadpan, these seven poetic sequences offer diverse reflections on language and poetry, time and consciousness, civilization and art—to say nothing of bureaucrats, surfboards, and blue margaritas. Taken collectively, Seven Notebooks composes a season-by-season account of a year in the life of its narrator, from spring in Chicago to summer at the Jersey Shore to winter in Miami Beach. Not a novel in verse, not a poetic journal, but a lyric chronicle, this utterly unique book reclaims territory long abandoned by American poetry, a characteristic ambition of Campbell McGrath, one of the most honored, accessible, and humanistically engaged writers of our time.

  • Cave and Cosmos : Shamanic Encounters with Another Reality by Michael Harner - Paperback

Cave and Cosmos : Shamanic Encounters with Another Reality by Michael Harner - Paperback

In 1980, Michael Harner blazed the trail for the worldwide revival of shamanism with his seminal classic The Way of the Shaman. In this long-awaited sequel, he provides new evidence of the reality of heavens.

“Harner has impeccable credentials, both as an academic and as a practicing shaman. Without doubt (since the recent death of Mircea Eliade) the world’s leading authority on shamanism.”
—Nevill Drury, author of The Elements of Shamanism

Drawing from a lifetime of personal shamanic experiences and more than 2,500 reports of Westerners’ experiences during shamanic ascension, Harner highlights the striking similarities between their discoveries, indicating that the heavens and spirits they’ve encountered do indeed exist. He also provides instructions on his innovative core-shamanism techniques, so that readers too can ascend to heavenly realms, seek spirit teachers, and return later at will for additional healing and advice.

Written by the leading authority on shamanism, Cave and Cosmos is a must-read not only for those interested in shamanism, but also for those interested in spirituality, comparative religion, near-death experiences, healing, consciousness, anthropology, and the nature of reality.

“What Yogananda did for Hinduism and D. T. Suzuki did for Zen, Michael Harner has done for shamanism—namely, bring the tradition and its richness to Western awareness.”

  • The Art of Dreaming by Carlos Castaneda - Paperback

The Art of Dreaming by Carlos Castaneda - Paperback

In bestsellers like A Separate Reality and Journey to Ixtlan, Castaneda recounted his purported adventures with Mexican Yaqui Indian sorcerer don Juan Matus. Here he tells how, under don Juan's tutelage, he gained control over his dreams and used dreaming as a launching pad to a pervasive but unseen realm of ancestral spiritual forces, good and evil. He goes through tunnels, enters into the consciousness of trees, meets scouts, emissaries and form-changing blobs of energy. Aided by don Juan's companions and fellow apprentices, Castaneda penetrates a realm of "inorganic beings" who set traps for him and attack him, as if to illustrate don Juan's teaching that consciousness is compelled to grow through life-or-death confrontations. For believers, Castaneda's quest offers a tantalizing glimpse of alternate worlds beyond the rational parameters of our mundane reality. -- Publishers Weekly

  • The Future of Man by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin - Paperback USED

The Future of Man by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin - Paperback USED

The Future of Man is a magnificent introduction to the thoughts and writings of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, one of the few figures in the history of the Catholic Church to achieve renown as both a scientist and a theologian. Trained as a paleontologist and ordained as a Jesuit priest, Teilhard de Chardin devoted himself to establishing the intimate, interdependent connection between science—particularly the theory of evolution—and the basic tenets of the Christian faith.

At the center of his philosophy was the belief that the human species is evolving spiritually, progressing from a simple faith to higher and higher forms of consciousness, including a consciousness of God, and culminating in the ultimate understanding of humankind’s place and purpose in the universe. The Church, which would not condone his philosophical writings, refused to allow their publication during his lifetime. Written over a period of thirty years and presented here in chronological order, the essays cover the wide-ranging interests and inquiries that engaged Teilhard de Chardin throughout his life: intellectual and social evolution; the coming of ultra-humanity; the integral place of faith in God in the advancement of science; and the impact of scientific discoveries on traditional religious dogma. Less formal than The Phenomenon of Man and The Divine Milieu, Teilhard de Chardin’s most renowned works, The Future of Man offers a complete, fully accessible look at the genesis of ideas that continue to reverberate in both the scientific and the religious communities.

Altered Carbon by Richard K. Morgan - Paperback Science Fiction

SOON TO BE A BRAND-NEW SERIES ON NETFLIX

In the twenty-fifth century, humankind has spread throughout the galaxy, monitored by the watchful eye of the U.N. While divisions in race, religion, and class still exist, advances in technology have redefined life itself. Now, assuming one can afford the expensive procedure, a person’s consciousness can be stored in a cortical stack at the base of the brain and easily downloaded into a new body (or “sleeve”) making death nothing more than a minor blip on a screen.

Ex-U.N. envoy Takeshi Kovacs has been killed before, but his last death was particularly painful. Dispatched one hundred eighty light-years from home, re-sleeved into a body in Bay City (formerly San Francisco, now with a rusted, dilapidated Golden Gate Bridge), Kovacs is thrown into the dark heart of a shady, far-reaching conspiracy that is vicious even by the standards of a society that treats “existence” as something that can be bought and sold. For Kovacs, the shell that blew a hole in his chest was only the beginning. . . .

  • Hating Perfection : A Subtle Search for the Best Possible World by John F. Williams - Paperback

Hating Perfection : A Subtle Search for the Best Possible World by John F. Williams - Paperback

The best heaven and the worst hell are the same place. Travel with author John F. Williams into the jungles of Laos and into a new understanding of existence.

In lively short stories, Hating Perfection shows the everyday world as uncanny, equally strange as the imaginary worlds of Borges or Kafka. This engrossing, strikingly original book invites you to experience your life in a new way.

Hating Perfection weaves its stories together with an elegant logic. Our hateful world—painful, unjust, ruthless, fatal—stands revealed as the best of all possible worlds, flooded everywhere by a perfection both alien and addicting. What we want is different from what we get. But the reason why has a divine splendor.

In this revised edition, Mr. Williams has added a postscript that addresses the well-known philosopher’s paradox of the Chinese room. The author explains for the first time how we know that such a room as usually described would not have consciousness.

Stand beside Mr. Williams for a time, and look in the direction he is looking. Your troubles may still be your troubles, but the world will be more than it was.

  • Limitless Mind: A Guide to Remote Viewing and Transformation of Consciousness by Russell Targ - Paperback Nonfiction

Limitless Mind: A Guide to Remote Viewing and Transformation of Consciousness by Russell Targ - Paperback Nonfiction

Popular misconceptions of psychic ability and ESP have often prevented these topics from being taken seriously, yet an abundance of scientific research shows that we have a tremendous capacity for developing these talents. In 1972, physicist Russell Targ, co-founded the Stanford Research Institute’s program to investigate the development of psychic abilities. In his ten years with this program, he came to understand that most people have the ability to describe events and locations that are blocked from ordinary perception. The term remote-viewing was coined for this ability. In this, his sixth book, Targ explores the scientific as well as the spiritual implications of remote viewing and offers detailed exercises to assist readers in cultivating their own psychic abilities.

Russell offers several techniques and exercises to overcome all of this clatter and to develop remote-viewing skills. Remote-viewing offers a path of self-inquiry and self-realization and expands our limited awareness of the consciousness shared by all humans.

  • Explorations in Consciousness : A New Approach to Out-of-Body Experiences by Frederick Aardema

Explorations in Consciousness : A New Approach to Out-of-Body Experiences by Frederick Aardema

In Explorations in Consciousness, Frederick Aardema, a clinical researcher, provides a profound account of the out-of-body experience, covering some of the most mystifying aspects of this experience. Throughout the book, the author seamlessly weaves in his own travels into different fields of consciousness, including  experiences in the personal field, where he is confronted with the constructs of his own psyche, as well as visitations to collective and archetypal fields of consciousness that appear to have an independent existence beyond the eye of the beholder. Highly original and groundbreaking, Explorations in Consciousness presents a model of reality in which nothing can ever be taken for granted. It proposes that consciousness is embedded within a wider field of possibilities that become real depending on our interaction with the world around us, whether "in" or "out" of the body. Regardless of what you believe about the out-of-body state, this book will challenge and excite you to become an explorer of consciousness. It provides a powerful method to induce the OBE, as well as new tools on how to navigate the entire spectrum of consciousness yourself.

    From the Inside Flap

    * The Transition Process - A systematic account of the transition process leading into the out-of-body state.

    * Fields of Consciousness - A comprehensive overview of the different fields of consciousness that can be accessed in the out-of-body state.

    * A Model of Possibilities - A quantum view of reality with direct and practical implications.

    * Navigation in the Void - Accessible tools to effectively navigate consciousness by accessing nonlocal space in the out-of-body state.

    * The Vigil Method - A powerful six-step guide to moving beyond the physical body.

This is one of the best OBE books I've read in many years and I highly recommend it. It was thoroughly enjoyable. One of the reasons I liked it so much is just because of the author's approach. It really makes you think. Hard.
-- Robert Peterson, Author of Out of Body Experiences, Lessons Out of the Body and Answers Within

Explorations of Consciousness represents a new height, a new level in the serious intellectual study of altered states, and specifically the so-called "out of body experience." But it is not a dry and pedantic framework, but an exciting, living framework that has a lot to offer people of all levels of interest. If you want a book with sound methods for inducing an OBE, Fred's book has it. If you want a sophisticated critique of past workers in the area of out-of-body experiencing, lucid dreaming and astral projection, Fred's book has it. If you wish to learn cutting edge ideas about this experience, and how it ties to other areas of learning, ranging from psychology to physics, Fred's book has it. It sets a new standard of quality and intellectual sophistication. It serves as a great example. Needless to say, I recommend you read it!
-- Dr. Donald DeGracia, Associate Professor of Physiology, Wayne State University, Author of Do-OBE and Beyond the Physical

With his careful, detailed scientific consideration of the phenomena, Frederick pulls OBEs out from the smoke screen of flimflammery to present them transparently as a comprehensible human experience - in particular, an experience potentially attainable by all.
-- Dr. Kieron O'Connor, Research Professor of Clinical Psychology, University of Montreal, Canada

This book has moved the OBE ball down the field farther than anything since Robert Monroe in the 70's and 80's. The greatest contribution here is the way the author looks at the OBE. While rejecting neural reductionism, he also rejects all forms of geographical or 'travel' analogies. Consciousness is nowhere and can never be anywhere. All the apparent 'travel' to this or that world or zone of experience is a phase shift of eternally stationary consciousness. Check it out, finally somebody with a brain has probed into this deeply. It's the best thing in decades on the OBE.
-- Scott Meredith, Author of Juice: Radical Taiji Energetics

I am blown away. Frederick Aardema has written the master textbook of OBEs how it should be taught in schools. To my mind it will rank as one of the future classics of OBE literature and should be required and essential reading for all OBE investigators.
-- Jurgen Ziewe, Author of Multidimensional Man

Aardema's theory and practice of the OBE deserve careful consideration--his book is bound to become one of the classic texts on the subject.
-- Mathew Fike, Professor of English at Winthrop University

  • Thoughtless Magic and Manifestations : Through Non Verbal Protocols by Richard Dotts - Paperback

Thoughtless Magic and Manifestations : Through Non Verbal Protocols by Richard Dotts - Paperback

From the world’s favorite manifestations author comes Thoughtless Magic and Manifestations, Richard Dotts’ most advanced and groundbreaking work on manifestations to date. In this latest book, bestselling author and spiritual explorer Richard Dotts not only builds upon the fundamental premise which he has explored in his previous 23 international bestsellers, but also takes the science of manifestations to a whole new level with his latest discovery of how various non-verbal protocols can be used for effective manifestations.

Existing readers of Richard Dotts’ works will know that he has always advocated taking a light touch when it comes to manifesting our desired good. The core of his teachings revolve around the timeless spiritual truth that a light intention, when held purely in our consciousness, is all it takes to create magic and miracles on the outside. In turn, how fast things manifest for us depends on the purity of our intentions and the calmness of our inner states

Those who have trouble manifesting their desires usually find it difficult to “purely” ask for what they want without the corresponding intrusion of negative thoughts. These counter-intentions are the main reason why manifestations do not happen (or are delayed) for so many people. While traditional techniques can help in the reprogramming of our beliefs, the change process is usually slow and leads to considerable negative resistance. For example, repeating an affirmation about a desired positive outcome often throws up more negative feelings and sets up further counter-intentions instead.

In Thoughtless Magic and Manifestations, Richard guides readers through the thoughtless manifestations process for the first time in print, a cutting-edge inner technology which allows one to hold their desired intentions purely until they manifest on the outside. Through the use of various non-verbal protocols designed to manifest specific outcomes in life, one is able to hold an extremely pure and laser-focused intention for whatever they desire without also stirring up the corresponding negative feelings. These non-verbal protocols can be applied to various situations in life, from solving problems, manifesting wealth and financial abundance to achieving optimal physical health. Richard also shows the reader how to create their own non-verbal protocols for specific situations.

The thoughtless manifestations process represents an evolution in human consciousness and how we can use the power of our intentions to shape our reality. When you learn how to hold your intentions through the thoughtless manifestations process, you attract what you want purely while simultaneously silencing all negative thoughts and counter-intentions that hinder the process. What results is an extremely fast (and in many cases, instant) manifestation of your physical desires.

  • Mining for Wisdom Within Delusion by Karl Brunnholzl - Tibetan Buddhist Scriptures

Mining for Wisdom Within Delusion by Karl Brunnholzl - Tibetan Buddhist Scriptures

Maitreya’s Distinction between Phenomena and the Nature of Phenomena distinguishes the illusory phenomenal world of saṃsāra produced by the confused dualistic mind from the ultimate reality that is mind’s true nature. The transition from the one to the other is the process of “mining for wisdom within delusion.” Maitreya’s text calls this “the fundamental change,” which refers to the vanishing of delusive appearances through practicing the path, thus revealing the underlying changeless nature of these appearances. In this context, the main part of the text consists of the most detailed explanation of nonconceptual wisdom—the primary driving force of the path as well as its ultimate result—in Buddhist literature.

The introduction of the book discusses these two topics (fundamental change and nonconceptual wisdom) at length and shows how they are treated in a number of other Buddhist scriptures. The three translated commentaries, by Vasubandhu, the Third Karmapa, Rangjung Dorje, and Gö Lotsāwa, as well as excerpts from all other available commentaries on Maitreya’s text, put it in the larger context of the Indian Yogācāra School and further clarify its main themes. They also show how this text is not a mere scholarly document, but an essential foundation for practicing both the sūtrayāna and the vajrayāna and thus making what it describes a living experience. The book also discusses the remaining four of the five works of Maitreya, their transmission from India to Tibet, and various views about them in the Tibetan tradition.

    Review

Mining for Wisdom within Delusion provides us with a much-needed comprehensive treatment of Maitreya’s text, something that both scholars and meditators will find illuminating. Karl Brunnhölzl’s adept translation, annotations, and introduction add layers of richness that always bring us back to the basic point: wisdom is discovered within delusion.”—Elizabeth Callahan, translator of The Treasury of Knowledge, Book Six, Part Three: Frameworks of Buddhist Philosophy

“Once again Tsadra and Karl Brunnhölzl have given us access to a classic of Buddhist Mahayana, so important in recognizing the true nature of reality. This classic will guide the scholar and the practitioner alike in discovering the nonconceptual wisdom within delusion. This is a monumental work.”—Judith Simmer-Brown, Ph.D., Professor of Religious Studies, Naropa University

“While scholars will delight in this rich banquet of information, all practitioners who wonder how it works that their meditation bears fruit as the dawning of ‘nonconceptual wisdom,’ what it actually is that undergoes the ‘fundamental change,’ and how that process unfolds will definitely find overwhelming insight in this book.”—Susanne Schefczyk, translator and editor of Everyday Consciousness and Primordial Awareness

“There is no doubt that everything a scholar or a practitioner needs to know on this subject is here, and that Karl Brunnhölzl is the reigning expert and right person to have written it. If anything at all was left out, we don’t need to know it.”—Sarah Harding, translator of Machik’s Complete Explanation

    About the Author

Karl Brunnhölzl, MD, was trained as a physician and also studied Tibetology. He received his systematic training in Tibetan language and Buddhist philosophy and practice at the Marpa Institute for Translators, founded by Khenpo Tsultrim Gyamtso Rinpoche. Since 1989 he has been a translator and interpreter from Tibetan and English. He is presently involved with the Nitartha Institute as a teacher and translator.

  • Quantum Enigma : Physics Encounters Consciousness 2nd Edition by Bruce Rosenblum and‎ Fred Kuttner - Paperback

Quantum Enigma : Physics Encounters Consciousness 2nd Edition by Bruce Rosenblum and‎ Fred Kuttner - Paperback

In trying to understand the atom, physicists built quantum mechanics, the most successful theory in science and the basis of one-third of our economy. They found, to their embarrassment, that with their theory, physics encounters consciousness. Authors Bruce Rosenblum and Fred Kuttner explain all this in non-technical terms with help from some fanciful stories and anecdotes about the theory's developers. They present the quantum mystery honestly, emphasizing what is and what is not speculation. Quantum Enigma's description of the experimental quantum facts, and the quantum theory explaining them, is undisputed. Interpreting what it all means, however, is heatedly controversial. But every interpretation of quantum physics involves consciousness. Rosenblum and Kuttner therefore turn to exploring consciousness itself--and encounter quantum mechanics. Free will and anthropic principles become crucial issues, and the connection of consciousness with the cosmos suggested by some leading quantum cosmologists is mind-blowing. Readers are brought to a boundary where the particular expertise of physicists is no longer the only sure guide. They will find, instead, the facts and hints provided by quantum mechanics and the ability to speculate for themselves.

"A remarkable and readable presentation." --Charles Townes, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics

"This book is unique.  EL The clearest expositions I have ever seen." --George Greenstein, Professor of Astronomy, Amherst College

"An immensely important and exciting book." --Raymond Chester Russ, editor of Journal of Mind and Behavior

"Exposes the hidden skeleton in the physicist's closet." --Nick Herbert, author of Quantum Reality

In the few decades since the Bell's theorem experiments established the existence of entanglement (Einstein's "spooky action"), interest in the foundations, and the mysteries, of quantum mechanics has accelerated. In recent years, physicists, philosophers, computer engineers, and even biologists have expanded our realization of the significance of quantum phenomena. This second edition includes such advances. The authors have also drawn on many responses from readers and instructors to improve the clarity of the book's explanations.

  • The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie - A Novel in Trade Paperback

The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie - A Novel in Trade Paperback

One of the most controversial and acclaimed novels ever written, The Satanic Verses is Salman Rushdie’s best-known and most galvanizing book. Set in a modern world filled with both mayhem and miracles, the story begins with a bang: the terrorist bombing of a London-bound jet in midflight. Two Indian actors of opposing sensibilities fall to earth, transformed into living symbols of what is angelic and evil. This is just the initial act in a magnificent odyssey that seamlessly merges the actual with the imagined. A book whose importance is eclipsed only by its quality, The Satanic Verses is a key work of our times.

    From Publishers Weekly

Banned in India before publication, this immense novel by Booker Prize-winner Rushdie ( Midnight's Children ) pits Good against Evil in a whimsical and fantastic tale. Two actors from India, "prancing" Gibreel Farishta and "buttony, pursed" Saladin Chamcha, are flying across the English Channel when the first of many implausible events occurs: the jet explodes. As the two men plummet to the earth, "like titbits of tobacco from a broken old cigar," they argue, sing and are transformed. When they are found on an English beach, the only survivors of the blast, Gibreel has sprouted a halo while Saladin has developed hooves, hairy legs and the beginnings of what seem like horns. What follows is a series of allegorical tales that challenges assumptions about both human and divine nature. Rushdie's fanciful language is as concentrated and overwhelming as a paisley pattern. Angels are demonic and demons are angelic as we are propelled through one illuminating episode after another. The narrative is somewhat burdened by self-consciousness that borders on preciosity, but for Rushdie fans this is a splendid feast.

  • Dream Yoga and the Practice of Natural Light by Chogyal Namkhai Norbu - Paperback Nonfiction

Dream Yoga and the Practice of Natural Light by Chogyal Namkhai Norbu - Paperback Nonfiction

In Dream Yoga and the Practice of Natural Light, Chögyal Namkhai Norbu gives instructions for developing clarity within the sleep and dream states. He goes beyond the practices of lucid dreaming that have been popularized in the West by presenting methods for guiding dream states that are part of a broader system for enhancing self-awareness called Dzogchen. In this tradition, the development of lucidity in the dream state is understood in the context of generating greater awareness for the ultimate purpose of attaining liberation.

This revised and expanded edition includes additional material from a profound and personal Dzogchen book, which Chögyal Namkhai Norbu wrote over many years. This material deepens the first edition's emphasis on specific exercises to develop awareness within the dream and sleep states. Also included in this book is a text written by Mipham, the nineteenth-century master of Dzogchen, which offers additional insights into this extraordinary form of meditation and awareness.

    Review

"A personal and inspiring account of the higher possibilities of sleep and dreams by an acknowledged master. Must reading for dreamers in search of awakening."—Stephen LaBerge, PhD, director of the Lucidity Institute and author of Lucid Dreaming

"Chögyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche is one of the greatest Tibetan meditation masters and scholars teaching in the West today. His luminous Dream Yoga teachings are invaluable for anyone interested in Buddhist practices and views on dreaming and the afterlife. These profound and liberating wisdom teachings from the ancient Dzogchen tradition of Tibet provide new perspectives on this life, on the nature of reality, and on the nature of consciousness and mind. I myself read this book with great interest and recommend it to my own students."—Lama Surya Das, founder of the Dzogchen Foundation and author of Awakening the Buddha

"The new edition is sufficiently different from the already pivotal previous version to warrant purchasing it and working seriously with its contents. In the current edition, Rinpoche, who has had clear abilities in dream practices since his youth, expands his initial commentary on the 'practice of the night' with more specific explanations drawn from an intimate and detailed Dzogchen manuscript he has been writing for many years."—The Mirror

"Provides a valuable practice to help calm the mind in lucid dreaming states so that we can truly deepen our awareness. Dream Yoga is not just about awakening in the dream state, but also bringing it together with our non-dream awareness as well."—Nate DeMontigny, Precious Metal

Joseph McMoneagle is an extraordinary remote viewer, a "psychic spy," whose experiences have given him a special insight into the nature of time and human perception. For more than seventeen years, he was a researcher and remote viewer for the top-secret Army project STARGATE. For years after that, he journeyed through time while working in a consciousness-development lab with out-of-body experience pioneer Robert A. Monroe.

Do we slip between alternate realities? In The Ultimate Time Machine, McMoneagle delivers new insights into these mysteries, including:

    • First-hand information--including transcripts from lab sessions--on the origins of humanity, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, and the building of the Egyptian pyramids.

  • The Ocean at the End of the Lane : A Novel in Hardcover by Neil Gaiman

The Ocean at the End of the Lane : A Novel in Hardcover by Neil Gaiman

A brilliantly imaginative and poignant fairy tale from the modern master of wonder and terror, The Ocean at the End of the Lane is Neil Gaiman’s first new novel for adults since his #1 New York Times bestseller Anansi Boys.

This bewitching and harrowing tale of mystery and survival, and memory and magic, makes the impossible all too real...

    From Booklist

*Starred Review* In Gaiman’s first novel for adults since Anansi Boys (2005), the never-named fiftyish narrator is back in his childhood homeland, rural Sussex, England, where he’s just delivered the eulogy at a funeral. With “an hour or so to kill” afterward, he drives about—aimlessly, he thinks—until he’s at the crucible of his consciousness: a farmhouse with a duck pond. There, when he was seven, lived the Hempstocks, a crone, a housewife, and an 11-year-old girl, who said they were grandmother, mother, and daughter. Now, he finds the crone and, eventually, the housewife—the same ones, unchanged—while the girl is still gone, just as she was at the end of the childhood adventure he recalls in a reverie that lasts all afternoon. He remembers how he became the vector for a malign force attempting to invade and waste our world. The three Hempstocks are guardians, from time almost immemorial, situated to block such forces and, should that fail, fight them. Gaiman mines mythological typology—the three-fold goddess, the water of life (the pond, actually an ocean)—and his own childhood milieu to build the cosmology and the theater of a story he tells more gracefully than any he’s told since Stardust (1999). And don’t worry about that “for adults” designation: it’s a matter of tone. This lovely yarn is good for anyone who can read it. HIGH-DEMAND BACKSTORY: That this is the popular author’s first book for adults in eight years pretty much sums up why this will be in demand. --Ray Olson

  • Seven States of Consciousness : The Teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi by Anthony Campbell - Mass Market Paperback USED

Seven States of Consciousness : The Teachings of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi by Anthony Campbell - Mass Market Paperback USED

Transcendental meditation is a simple, natural technique for the progressive refinement of the nervous system through the regular alternation of deep rest and activity.  It is not a religion, a philosophy, or a way o life, though it has relevance to all of these.

Transcendental meditation is complete in itself.  Being entirely practical, it does not depend upon belief or acceptance of theories:  all that is needed for successful practice is a simple willingness to experiment.

Basing his book on the work done by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the author discuses such topics as finding the right question, pure awareness, practical applications, cosmic consciousness, ethics and free will, the Absolute, the seven states of consciousness, creativity, enlightenment, and desire.  He believes, "Maharishi's teaching offers us the possibility of achieving something which to many people today seems an utter impossibility:  I mean a restoration of a lost wholeness in our view of ourselves and the world."
